Strong winds close airports in Sochi and Gelendzhik

The airports of the cities of Sochi and Gelendzhik, Krasnodar Territory, are currently working under the actual weather because of strong wind and cannot receive the arriving aircrafts.

The Sochi airport does not receive aircrafts from 4:00 p.m. Moscow time. "Three aircrafts have already been redirected to Krasnodar. These were the flights from Tashkent, St Petersburg and Moscow," said Olesya Eremina, press secretary of the "Basel Aero" - the managing company of Kuban Airports.

Two more flights from Moscow could not land at the airport of Gelendzhik. According to Ms Eremina, now the passengers of these flights are carried by buses from Krasnodar to Gelendzhik, the "Interfax-South" reports.

Bad weather is observed in the Krasnodar Territory for several days already. On April 8, strong winds caused power outages in 39,000 users. Due to bad weather, last night a landslide went down on the railway section Lazarevskoe-Chemitokvadze. It was also reported about stop of traffic in A146 Federal Highway Krasnodar-Novorossiysk in the Crimean District of the Krasnodar Territory because of heavy rains.
