Five new events added to programme of Winter Olympics-2014 in Sochi

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved five new sport events in the programme of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, namely: women's ski jumping; mixed relay in biathlon; half-pipe in snowboarding; and team competitions in figure skating and sleigh racing.

The decision on expanding the programme was made by the Executive Committee of the IOC at its sitting in London, the "Interfax" reports with reference to the "NBC Sports" American TV Channel.

As reported by the RIA "Novosti", Alexander Zhukov, President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), said that given the new events the Russian Olympic team has chances to win more medals at the Sochi Olympiad in 2014.
