Water Pollution MAC near city beach of Makhachkala exceeded by 14,000 times

 

Examination of water samples near the city beach of Makhachkala has shown that the content of dissolved petroleum products is 991.15 mg per litre, which exceeds the maximum allowable concentration (MAC) in water bodies by more than 14,000 times, reports the Centre for Laboratory Analysis and Technical Measurements of the Republic of Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the information about the sea pollution near the city beach of Makhachkala had come from tourists and rescuers. According to their story, for the third day in a row they feel a strong smell of oil on the seashore and the water is covered with the iridescent film of petroleum products.

According to the above Centre, the discharge of oil into the Caspian Sea had taken place not far from Makhachkala.

"The total discharge volume of dissolved petroleum products is about 4.5 tons," the "Interfax quotes a source from the Centre.
