On April 21, Vilnius Court to consider prosecutor's office appeal on Egle Kusaite's case

Today, the Vilnius Court has postponed its session, which was to consider the action of the prosecutor's office asking to change Egle Kusaite's freedom restriction measure from recognizance not to leave for the custody. The adjudication was reappointed on April 21.

"The court has postponed its decision till April 21 to give time to Egle Kusaite's defence to get acquainted with the materials of the case. Today, the court also considered Egle Kusaite's petition on challenging the prosecution party - the prosecutor Mindaugas Dudu. The petition was rejected. In our conversation Egle said that the prosecutor built his charges on the provision not of the Lithuanian, but Russian Criminal Code. 'He works as a Russian prosecutor,' said Egle," the Lithuanian journalist Thomas Chivas told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Mr Chivas, today the Vilnius Court was also to make several other key decisions, including on transfer of the case to another court; however, this decision was also postponed.

In Rostov-on-Don, activists of "The Other Russia" plan to hold a picket against dissidents' arrests

On April 5, in Rostov-on-Don, activists of "The Other Russia" plan to hold a rally in support of arrested dissidents. The picket "Freedom to prisoners of conscience!" with a demand to release Igor Berezyuk, Kirill Unchuk and Ruslan Khubaev is planned at 6:00-7:00 p.m. in front of the plenipotentiary representative in the SFD (Southern Federal District) in Bolshaya Sadovaya Street.

"The Administration of Rostov-on-Don has already rejected our tomorrow's picket, and as usual offered us to hold a rally in the deserted place - near the Sports Palace. Tomorrow, a trial will take place, where we shall challenge this refusal of the city administration," Grigory Elizarov, an activist of "The Other Russia" told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, should the court fail to agree on the event, the action will be held in the form of a citizens' gathering.

On that day, similar actions in support of political prisoners will be held in many cities across the country.

Igor Berezyuk, Kirill Unchuk and Ruslan Khubaev are the activists of "The Other Russia", who were arrested and are now kept at the SIZO "Matrosskaya Tishina" on charges related to the events in Manege Square on December 11 last year. The human rights organization named the "Union Solidarity with Political Prisoners" has recognized them as political prisoners.
