Kremlin detects double overpricing of construction materials for Sochi Olympic objects
The Audit Department of Russian President has established facts of overpricing the construction materials used for building Olympic venues, said Konstantin Chuichenko, head of the Department.
"We've revealed unpleasant facts relating to price-formation on bulk materials - sand-and-gravel mix and crushed stone," said Chuichenko at today's meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
He has added that the check revealed that the price of these materials had gone up from 360 to 800 roubles per ton, while the nationwide average price is 250-400 roubles. "It's out of all reason," the "Interfax" quotes Mr Chuichenko as saying.
The ITAR-TASS adds that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has instructed Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and General Public Prosecutor Yuri Chaika to check, until March 31, 2011, all the facts of overpricing the construction materials for the facilities of the Sochi Olympiad and bring the perpetrators to justice.
