The cause of the crash of Tu-154 airplane which was following from Tehran to Yerevan in July, 2009, has been made public

A technical failure was acknowledged as the cause of a crash of an airliner belonging to Iranian company Caspian Airline which was flying from Tehran to Yerevan on July, 15, 2009.

"Caucasian Knot" has already reported that the crash of the airliner following from Tehran to Yerevan happened 16 minutes after its takeoff from Imam Khomeini airport. As a result of the accident 168 people perished including 153 passengers and 15 members of the crew.

After an investigation which lasted a year and a half the cause of the crash was definitively established. "During the flight a fragment of low pressure compressor disk of jet number one got detached. This fragment punched out the fuel line which resulted in fire", "Vesti" quotes Hosein Habibi Ahzun, representative of the Organization of Civil Aviation of Iran.

Different groups of specialists have visited the scene of the accident eleven times. The airborne recorders were strongly damaged and had to be sent to Russian experts for restoration, "Echo of Moscow" reports.

Since this February a ban of using Tu-154 airliners designed yet in the USSR, in 1975, was enacted in Iran in connection with frequent crashes.

Rostransnadzor ordered to stop the use of Tu-154 planes in Russia, too, since January, 2011, after a number of accidents in Surgut and Moscow airport "Domodedovo".
