When in Vladikavkaz, Medvedev called to fight Internet-based extremism

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has noted, when speaking at the sitting of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), held in Vladikavkaz, said that fight against extremists on the Internet, including religious ones, should be waged by creating special resources.

Let us note here that Mr Medvedev's visit to North Ossetia was not previewed, while the NAC sitting was associated with exacerbation of the situation in Kabardino-Balkaria.

At the sitting, Dmitry Medvedev spoke about the fight against extremism on the Internet. "We need to create our own websites, to be present in networks and to open religious websites, giving the opportunity for Muslim preachers and all the interested persons as a whole," the RIA "Novosti" quotes President Medvedev as saying.

According to his story, "work on the Internet is often difficult," people should learn to do it. "However, it doesn't mean that we should behave like some other countries today: block the Internet, cut off global communications and try to negotiate with own people through armed forces. This is the road to nowhere; in fact - it's a crime," he said.
