About 600 residents of Stavropol Territory climb Mount Beshtau

In the honour of the Day of Homeland's Defender, residents of Pyatigorsk and several other cities of the Stavropol Territory made an extreme climb on Mount Beshtau.

"The mass climb on Beshtau to the height of 1402 meters above the sea level started from the railway station in the city of Zheleznovodsk. The climbers went up to the saddle along the Trachytic Alley, then stormed the top of the Big Tau and descended to the city of Lermontov," said the administration of Pyatigorsk.
The climbers were about 600 in number: 33 teams have applied - Pyatigorsk schools, military-patriotic clubs, enterprises and veterans.

The route has a quite difficult relief, which is not easy to pass in winter; therefore, a mass climb on Mount Beshtau in February is categorized as serious extreme, the "Interfax" reports.

Alexei Yevtushenko, the author of the idea of the climb and Director of the Centre of Youth Tourism and Excursions of Pyatigorsk, has climbed the Mount in the thirtieth time, the "Stavropol Pravda" wrote.
