All ski courses and tourists routes near Elbrus closed

In the context of the current strained situation in Kabardino-Balkaria, it was decided to close all the ski courses on slopes of Mount Elbrus: Alpine skiing is stopped; and all tourist groups are prohibited to go en route.

"Given the complicated situation in the region, we stopped all chair lifts and skiing in the vicinity of Elbrus," said the law enforcement agencies of the district.

Several tourist groups, which are in these days in the Elbrus region, were not allowed to continue their travel along the routes, the "Interfax" reports.

The "Echo Moskvy" Radio reports with reference to its source from law enforcement bodies that the measures were taken to ensure safety of tourists and skiers, and as soon as the situation allows, the ski slopes will be reopened.
