"White Tape": website Dymovskiy.name turned into platform for nationalists

The founders of the public movement named "White Tape" want to quit the organization and to stop cooperating with the website Dymovskiy.name, named after Alexei Dymovskiy, former militia major, in protest against the policy of the movement and the website. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told about it by Svetlana Svetikova, a member of the "White Tape" in St Petersburg. Alexei Dymovskiy himself asserts that he has nothing to do with the website and supervises another resource.

The claimed mission of the "White Tape" was posting documents and applications of citizens who have suffered from the arbitrariness of law enforcement bodies.

"The website Dymovskiy.name has lost its idea that had once rallied people. It is enough to go to the section 'About the Project', read the objectives and compare them with the contents of the website. The site is now a rally of Nazis and Jew-execrators," said Ms Svetikova and added that the website is no longer supporting "Dymovskiy's staff and cause."

As a concrete example, she gave a discussion of mass clashes in Manege Square in Moscow in December 2010, which burst out after football fans gathered to commemorate Yegor Sviridov, a fan of the "Spartak" Football Club, who was killed as a result of the mass brawl on December 6, according to the investigation, by Aslan Cherkesov, a native of Kabardino-Balkaria. The brawl began with the beating of Caucasians; 29 persons were injured.

"I never saw a crowd willing to stand up, when a handful of bastards was slaughtering non-Russian guys; they were defended only by militiamen and journalists. How many favourable comments appeared on the website about the beatings!" said Svetlana Svetikova.

According to Alexei Protasov, a former militiaman, who is cooperating with the website of trade unions of the militia of the GUVD (Chief Interior Department), there is less and less hope that the cause started by Dymovskiy will make a difference in law enforcement bodies.

"Dymovskiy has several websites; however, they are run by other people, far from militia and corruption problems. Starting from last year, the chase for criticizing the authorities has transformed into sympathy with criticism of the authorities by nationalists," said Protasov.

According to his story, if Dymovskiy fails to intervene in the policy of his resources, the people who had initially believed in his struggle against militia lawlessness will lose faith in him.

The attempts of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent to contact the authors of the website Dymovskiy.name were unsuccessful. The questions left on topical pages remained unanswered.

Vadim Karastelyov, a human rights defender, an expert of the Novorossiysk Human Rights Committee, who is Alexei Dymovskiy's confidant, gave a brief comment to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on the arisen situation: "Different people are acting on the website, including nationalists, who are trying to entice Alexei to their side."

Alexei Dymovskiy said, in answer to the questions of the "Caucasian Knot", that he "does not share any nationalist views and has nothing to do with the website Dymovskiy.name."

"There are websites Dymovskiy.ru and Dymovskiy.name. I respond for the former one. It is registered to my name; I have a license. The website Dymovskiy.name belongs to others, so to say, to a team. I don't always fully share their views," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
