Selimkhanov obliges Chechen state officials to wear Muslim clothes

Magomed Selimkhanov, Deputy Head of the Government of Chechnya and Head of the Administration of the Head and the Government of the Chechen Republic, has ordered the employees of state bodies and administrations of districts and cities to bring their clothes in conformity with the norms "of the service and Vainakh ethics." This is the topic of his statement published in the section "Wiki of the Caucasus" on the website of the "Caucasian Knot".

The document, which bears requisites of the Administration of the Head and Government of Chechnya, is dated by January 25, 2011, and signed by Magomed Selimkhanov.

The document prescribes that the working clothes of civil servants means a suit and a tie, and on Fridays - "traditional Muslim clothes." "The working clothes of women-employees includes a respective headpiece, dresses and skirts below the knee and sleeves - of three quarters of the arm's length," says the document.

Enforcement of Magomed Selimkhanov's order is on heads of district and city administrations.

The statement reminds that the demand of unification of state servants' clothes was announced by the Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov at the sitting back on December 16, 2010.

In late January, when the programme "Unreal Politics" was recorded in Grozny, Ramzan Kadyrov criticized the clothes of Tina Kandelaki, master of the programme: "I may dictate my own rules at home," said the Head of the Republic. "There's office dress, a uniform. I say: if women go to their work half-naked, men won't be able to work there… Therefore, if a woman is at work, she must correspond: wear a headscarf and confining clothes in order not to show everything."
