Bomb defused near mosque in Makhachkala

Specialists of the Department for Dagestan of the Russian FSB have neutralized an explosive device planted near the mosque in Akushinskiy Street in Makhachkala.

According to the press service of the above Department, a home-made magnetic mine was attached to the underside of the Ford Mondeo car parked outside the mosque. The car belongs to a 52-year-old Makhachkala resident.

"He drove to the mosque for his Friday prayer. After it was over, at about 2:00 p.m. he found a suspicious object under his car and called to the militia," said the source.

A special dog reacted positively to the presence of an explosive. FSB specialists found that the object was a self-made bomb attached to the car by magnets, the "Interfax" reports.

At 5:30 p.m. Moscow time, sappers defused the dangerous finding, and now try to establish its power, the RIA "Novosti" adds.
