Dagestanis are in search of their missing relative

Zukhra Omarova, a resident of the village of Krasny Voskhod, Kizlyar District of Dagestan, has announced that she was unaware of whereabouts of her husband, who was detained by law enforcers back on January 12, 2011. The missing man's house was searched today.

"At the exit from the village, local militiamen stopped the car, driven by my husband Akhmed Akhmedov with his three fellow villagers inside. The militiamen put them on the ground, searched, and took away to the Kizlyar ROVD (District Interior Division). We didn't know about the incident, until one of the eyewitnesses of the detention called us. In the evening of that very day his three passengers were released, but Akhmed was left in custody. Then we got information that the militia accused my husband of illegal arms possession; allegedly a pistol was found on him during the search, although his fellow villagers assert that nothing was found," said Omarova.

The woman said that she did not know where her husband was kept. "Our relatives were looking for Akhmed in all the neighbouring police stations, but all of them reported that Akhmed was not there. This morning one of the relatives called from Makhachkala and said that my husband was kept at the Dagestani MIA, but I was informed a few minutes ago that this information wasn't confirmed," she continued.

Zukhra Omarova said that today power agents came to make a search in the house and found several grenades in the yard. "Militiamen arrived with their witnesses; they didn't introduce themselves and didn't show a search warrant. They said that they would make a search; I asked to invite witnesses, and they called my neighbour. The search wasn't long: one of the militiamen immediately found several grenades. Then, they left. But my neighbour refused to sign the protocol, saying that she had not seen the moment, when grenades were found," she said.

The woman also said that she has four small children, the youngest is two-month old. She does not work, and her husband is under dispensary observation of the phthisiatrician. "My husband all the time takes his treatment; only a month ago he was discharged from the hospital. He has no police record, he's just a strictly practicing Muslim," said Omarova.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Kizlyar ROVD and at the press service of the Dagestani MIA that they had no information about the incident.
