No federal land sold to foreigners in Dagestan

In Dagestan, where under Decree of President Dmitri Medvedev the ban on acquisition of land as property by foreign nationals was introduced in 18 municipal formations, no land plots from the federal ownership had ever been sold to foreigners.

Rajab Usmanov, Deputy Head of the Territorial Division of the "Rosimuschestvo" (Russian Federal Property Agency) for Dagestan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on the lands of federal ownership there were no cases of land sale to citizens of foreign countries. Besides, according to his story, there are no enterprises with participation of foreign capital in these lands.

It should be noted here that in Dagestan lands of recreational value are regarded as federal ownership. These are mainly coastal territories, beaches and forests. "No foreigners ever bought any land also from the republic's ownership," said the Ministry for Property and Land Relations in Dagestan. There are also no enterprises with participation of foreign capitals in these lands.

On January 9, Russian President Dmitri Medvedev signed a decree "On Approving the List of Pre-Border Territories, where Foreign Citizens, Stateless Persons and Foreign Legal Entities May not Hold Titles on Land". The list includes the land of six regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) and five regions of the Southern Federal District (SFD).
