Four people perished as a result of an explosion at the firing range in Rustavi

One of the 13 servicemen wounded as a result of an explosion in Kratsaniss training center of the Georgian Ministry of Defense died this morning. Three soldiers died after the explosion at once. 

As Eteri Gonjilashvili, journalist of the newspaper “Rustavis Ambebi” (“Rustavi News”) who is near the hospital now told a reporter of “Caucasian Knot” on the phone, none of the relatives of those wounded in the explosion is allowed to enter the clinic, the building is cordoned off by the police. The names of the lost servicemen are not reported. Family and friend of injured and dead persons are standing in the courtyard on the hospital.

The state of health of eight wounded servicemen is estimated as a stable one, four others are in a grave state. But according to the physicians, there is no danger for their lives. Eight lightly wounded persons have been transported to Gori military hospital, “Georgia Online” reports.

Georgian Ministry of Defense reported that a technical mistake was made during training shooting from a trench mortar in Kratsaniss firing range. The company of the Georgian Ministry of Defense during training of which an explosion of a 120 millimeter mine happened was preparing for departure for Afghanistan.

  • Rights defenders give number of kidnapped people in Chechnya
