Criminal case opened against inspectors who released participants of the fight where Yegor Sviridov was killed

The Investigatory Committee has initiated prosecution of the inspectors, who had decided to release the detainees suspected of the mass brawl, in which Yegor Sviridov, a fan of the "Spartak" Football Club, was shot dead.

The case was initiated under Article 293 of the Criminal Code (negligence).

Let us note here that on December 16, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said, during his hotline dialogue with the population, that it was through the actions of law enforcement officials, who had released participants of the fight, that discontent of football fans was provoked and grew into mass riots with a nationalistic slant. After this, the Investigatory Committee initiated a check against the officials involved in this release.

As reported on the website of the Investigatory Committee of Russia, its employees are also going to "check the version of the mercenary or other personal interest of these officials in their decision to release the detainees."
