Militiamen suspected of beating teenager charged in Dagestan

The employees of the OVD (Interior Division) of the Khebda village, Shamil District of Dagestan, - Magomed Magomedov, Gamzat Nurudinov, Shamil Magomedov and Aliaskhab Nuruchinov, - who on July 20, 2010, beat Makhmud Akhmedov, 14, have been charged under Part 2, Article 286 (abuse of official powers), of the Russian Criminal Code.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on July 2, in the building of the above OVD several militiamen brutally beat Makhmud Akhmedov, a boy of fourteen.

On December 14, the examination results of the boy's clothes will be ready; and the parties will be able to get acquainted with the materials of the criminal case, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports.

The interests of the boy's family will be represented by advocates Bakanay Guseinov and Aziz Kurbanov, who work under agreement with the HRC "Memorial".

On November 26, in the building of the Sovietskiy District Prosecutor's Office in Makhachkala Makhmud identified all four militiamen. Earlier, investigatory actions were conducted in the place of the incident; and witnesses and victims were questioned.
