Ministry of Interior Affairs of Georgia: a resident of Abkhazia accused of terrorism acknowledged his guilt

Gogita Arkania, resident of Gali district detained on accusation of terrorism, has acknowledged his guilt at the same time accusing Russian major Evgeny Borisov of organizing acts of terror in the territory of Georgia. This was reported by representatives of Georgian Ministry of Interior Affairs.

Arkania said that he had "once had a personal meeting with Borisov in the territory of Abkhazia when the latter ordered him to commit two explosions in the territory of the US Embassy in Tbilisi".

If not, Arkania said, Borisov threatened with violence to the members of his family. "Borisov showed me the satellite map of Tbilisi, pointed to the US Embassy in it and told me in detail where I had to place the explosives", the detained said.

Arkania also told about the rest of the terror acts which took place in Georgia during the period from September till November, 2010. According to him, all of them had been guided by major Borisov. He also told how he was being supplied with the explosives for these terror acts, "Novosti-Georgia" reports.

There is also an information that on December, 4, beside Arkania, Johnni Abuladze and Miriam Nikolava who according to the Georgian Ministry of Interior Affairs dealt with purchase and transporting the explosives, driver Gocha Khurtsilava, Goderji Arkania and Leila Khurtsilava were detained. The police also state that Merab Kolbaia under the alias of "Kochoia"and Mukhran Tskhadaia who has been in search since 2003 for kidnapping are hiding themselves in Gali district.

Meanwhile, Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the Committee on international affairs of State Duma of the Russian Federation is sure that the Georgian authorities' statements cannot have anything to do with reality. Firstly, according to him, Russia does not deal with terrorism in essence, "secondly, it is incomprehensible what for Moscow would do the things Tbilisi accuses it of".

"We do really have complicated relations with Georgia however there is no doubt that we are not in the state of war. It is quite incomprehensible for me what could be the purpose of sponsoring or organizing acts of terror", Kosachev declared.

The deputy also reminded that it was not for the first time that "people were arrested an imprisoned" in Georgia: in the autumn of 2010, 15 persons accused of espionage for Moscow by Tbilisi were arrested in the republic. "However, no proofs of their guilt have been produced up to the moment", Kosachev remarked.

According to the deputy, "it is just necessary for Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili to attach the image of an enemy to Russia in the Georgian community's vision". "More and more Georgians wish normalization of the relations with the Russian Federation but this contradicts Saakashvili's political philosophy and Tbilisi's latest statements can be regarded as a new provocation", GZT.Ru quotes the end of Kosachev's speech.
