A member of "Memorial" Human Rights Center beaten up in Moscow

On December, 7, an assault upon Bakhrom Khamroev, member of Russian "Memorial" Human Rights Center, took place in Moscow.

A report of "Memorial" Human Rights Center received by "Caucasian Knot" runs that from the early morning of December, 7, the Ministry of Interior Affairs and Federal Security Service started "special operations on detention of "Islamic terrorists" in Moscow with flagrant law violations". Bakhrom Khamroev, member of "Memorial", who had arrived at the scene of an incident "was beaten up by an unidentified agent of special services", the human rights activists state.

At about 17:00 Moscow time Bakhrom Khamroev was delivered to a hospital. The physicians diagnosed brain concussion. Bakhrom refused hospitalization and is currently staying in bed at home", Oleg Orlov, Head of "Memorial" Center, told us.

According to the human rights activist, the day before Khamroev went to see his acquaintance, Russian citizen, native of Kirgizia, who had complained on the phone that armed people had burst into his flat.

"Bakhrom went there. He was not let into the flat and forced to go out of the front door. Then a man appeared from a minibus parked nearby (we do not know the number of the car), asked Bakhrom some questions and unexpectedly struck him several times in his head. Bakhrom fell down unconscious and was taken to hospital", "Interfax" quotes what Orlov said. The human rights activist and his colleagues consider that Khamroev was beaten up by a law enforcement agent.

There have been no comments on the incident from law enforcement bodies of Moscow.
