Russian soldier being sought in South Ossetia

Junior Sergeant Alexei Chepurnoy, a deputy platoon commander of one of motorized companies, disappeared this morning from the disposition of the motorized infantry unit of the 4th military base of Tskhinvali.

His disappearance was revealed at the everyday form-up held at 10 a.m. Currently, law enforcers are actively searching the missing soldier. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told about it at the on duty militia unit of Tskhinvali.

"After he fled from his unit, Chepurnoy was somewhere here, in Tskhinvali. People saw him; so far, there is no other data," said an officer from the on duty unit.

Alexei Chepurnoy was put on the staff list of the military unit at the end of November this year after completing his training course at another unit.
