Advocate of suspect in Kuschevskaya murder case unaware of her client's whereabouts

Alla Golovina, advocate of Sergey Tsapok, a suspect of organizing the massacre in the village of Kuschevskaya, Krasnodar Territory, has reported that she could not contact her client for five days.

"Since November 17, there is no information about where he is kept. Of course, we are trying to find him, but investigators say they don't know; and I still can't contact the head of the investigatory group. Now, I can't imagine, whether my client is alive and what his state of health is," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the lawyer as saying.

Ms Golovina has noted that she had complained to Russian Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin and acting head of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin, because "the constitutional right to defence is violated."

On November 21, information appeared in media that Sergey Tsapok was hospitalized with an attack of mental disease; however, officials have not confirmed this information, the "Echo Moskvy" Radio reports.

Meanwhile, a reader of the "Caucasian Knot", who lives, according to his story, in Kuschevskaya, wrote in his comment to the news "Two suspects of massacre in Kuschevskaya detained in Rostov" that he did not believe in Sergey Tsapok's guilt. "I come from Kuschevskaya myself; and I don't believe in all these versions of the investigation, in particular, that it was all done by the so-called local grouping of the Tsapoks," wrote the author of the comment under nickname simanya and asserted that the assassinated Server Aimetov and Sergey Tsapok were allies in confronting the gangs, which seized land in the village.

"The fact that the authorities are now with those, who executed - in such a brazen and unprecedented way - the persons, who had been in all-around defence for the last decade and successfully fought off attempts to capture their businesses, is already an open lawlessness of the authorities. Maybe someone doesn't know, but such villages like Kuschevskaya, where the land still belongs to local farmers, are very few remaining. Only thanks to the Tsapoks, Aimetov and Babon (Anatoly Smolnikov), who had been also found knifed near his house shortly before this tragedy, the land is still owned by farmers," the reader wrote.
