In Georgia, villager Saakashvili arrested for five days for quarrelling with bureaucrat

On October 2, in the village of Kistauri, Akhmet District of Kakheti (Georgia), after a quarrel between the head of local administration and local resident named Otar Saakashvili, the latter was detained by the militia and sentenced to five days in jail.

Journalist Gela Mtivlishvili, head of the Kakheti Information Centre, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that when Koba Maisuradze, head of the administration of the Ahmet District, was in Kistauri, local villager Otar Saakashvili asked him why, contrary to authorities' promises, the winery "Badagoni" (belongs to the famous Italian winemaker Riccardo Lanati) did not buy grapes from the population.

According to the journalist, after that, the official called Saakashvili a "liar", "provocateur" and "nation's enemy". Later, Otar Saakashvili was arrested by local militia.

Then, Otar Saakashvili was sentenced by Natela Dzhashiashvili, judge of the district court, to five days in jail for breaking public order. Mtivlishvili said that journalist failed to get the court's ruling. Nana Vasadze, head of the press service of the district court, told reporters that the court is not obligated to provide operative information to media workers.

Koba Maisuradze denies his involvement in arrest of Otar Saakashvili, saying that he really was in Kistauri, but knows nothing about the incident with Saakashvili and his detention.
