Editor-in-Chief of Dagestani newspaper "Chernovik" became laureate of Committee to Protect Journalists' award

Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) in New York has announced the names of the laureates of International Free press award, 2010. Nadira Isayeva, editor-in-chief of Dagestani weekly "Chernovik" was named among them. This prize is awarded for bravery displayed by journalists and publishers while carrying out their professional duties.

Beside Isayeva, the jury has also awarded Davit Kebede from Ethiopia, Laureano Markes from Venezuela and Muhammed Davari from Iran. The official statement of the Committee to Protect Journalists runs that these persons have risked their freedom and security in order to tell the truth to their readers.

"They exposed violations of rights and law, condemned corruption. Each of them contributed significantly into social life of his or country. We welcome their independence and courage", Joel Symon, Executive director of the Committee to Protect Journalists said.

Award ceremony will be held on November, 23, in "Waldorf-Astoria" hotel, New York.
