Active phase of two special operations is over in Dagestan

In the course of special operations conducted in Kaspiisk and Makhachkala fourteen persons were liquidated; they were blocked in private houses and, according to power agents, rendered armed resistance. Currently, special-purpose fighters start inspecting the premises, where the alleged militants had hid.

As of 1:40 p.m., nine casualties in Kaspiisk and five in Makhachkala were reported.

According to the Information Centre of the National Anti-Terror Committee (NAC), in order to minimize losses, the operative headquarters attracted close relatives of the persons blocked in the houses to negotiate with them and persuade them to voluntarily surrender; however, intense shelling of negotiators' groups was the answer.

Currently, the militants' resistance is suppressed; and measures are taken to detect the remaining members of their grouping, the NAC's spokesman told the RIA "Dagestan".

As of today, there are no losses among militiamen and power agents.
