A man was kidnapped in Dagestan, rights defenders report

On September 15, 2010, in Semender settlement in Makhachkala, Ramazan Sakhratulaevich Gamzatov was kidnapped, allegedly, by some power agents. His relatives addressed for help to human rights defenders.

As reported today by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", the kidnapping took place near the place of Gamzatov's temporary residence (No. 99 Petrovskaya Street). The man was forced into a white Gazel van with tinted windows without registration number plates.

The moment of kidnapping was fixed by a video camera, located in that street. According to the statement, two women were eyewitnesses of the incident; however, they have not been established yet.

Since the moment of abduction nothing is known about Ramazan's whereabouts; his cell phone is switched off.

His relatives have addressed the HRC "Memorial" with an application, where they ask to help to establish the Ramazan Gamzatov's whereabouts and protect him from possible illegal actions of law enforcement agencies.
