Chechnya: UFSIN employee suspected of bribe-taking

The prosecutor's office of Chechnya has initiated a criminal case against the head of one of the divisions of the Department of the Federal Correction Service (known as UFSIN), detained for extorting bribes from conditional convicts.

"The detained Rakhim Almagomedov, 24, head of the division of the criminal-executive inspection of the UFSIN is suspected of regular bribe from conditional convicts. He was detained by employees of the FSB Department for Chechnya and the MIA Departments for the NCFD (North-Caucasian Federal District) at receiving a 25,000-rouble bribe from a conditionally convicted resident of Kurdyukovskaya village, Shelkovskoi District," a source from Chechen power agencies told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the source, Almagomedov was regularly extorting bribes from conditional convicts. "Instead, he promised to cut or cancel whatsoever their conditional terms," the source said.

In his opinion, by the combination of the crimes committed through abuse of his service post, Rakhim Almagomedov is under threat of 7-12 years of imprisonment and a huge fine.

The defendant's attitude to the presented charges is unknown yet.
