Broadcasting of Georgian TV channels was stopped in Gali district of Abkhazia

Personnel of State Communications Inspection of Abkhazia have removed the transmitters broadcasting the programs of Georgian TV from the territory of Inguri hydro power, Gali district of the republic.

Beslan Khalwash, Chief of State Communications Inspection reported that during an inspection in Gali district and the territory of Inguri hydro power the personnel of the State Inspection had discovered two unauthorized TV transmitters which were dismantled and removed on September, 20.

According to Khalwash, only the TV channels registered in State Communications Inspection of the republic with a respective licenses have the right of broadcasting in Abkhazia. "Georgian TV channels have no such licenses, therefore their broadcasting in the territory of the Abkhazian Republic is illegal", Khalwash declared. 

According to "Interfax", Beslan Arshba, Head of Administration of Gali district, said that local residents of Georgian nation could watch the programs of six Georgian TV channels by satellite TV.

It should be reminded that on December, 4, 2009, Georgian National Communications Committee, in its turn, decided to fine a number of Russian TV companies for broadcasting in the territory of Abkhazia without Georgia's permission. The Russian TV channels refused to pay off the penalty.
