Georgia rejects Israeli political scientist Avigdor Eskin

Today in the morning, Avigdor Eskin, a well-known political scientist from Israel, who arrived in Tbilisi to take part on September 15 in the roundtable "Identity and globalization: challenges and prospects", organized by the Society of Irakli the Second, was not admitted to Georgia.

According to Archil Chkoidze, Chairman of the Society, Avigdor Eskin was told at the airport that he could not be let in for political reasons.

As reported by the "Medianews" Agency with reference to Chkoidze, Mr Eskin had to leave Tbilisi and return home.

The Society has noted that "Mr Eskin has never spoken against Georgia and Georgian people," and "in the course of mass deportation of Georgians from Russia he supported the Georgian people in his presentations."

So far, the Georgian MIA gave no comments on the situation, saying that they wait for additional data on the incident, the IA "News-Georgia" reports.
