Official from Krasnodar Territory convicted for bribery in Moscow

Today, the Moscow City Court has sentenced Sergey Tulinov, ex-head of the Yeisk District, Krasnodar Territory, found guilty of taking a bribe of 3 million roubles, to 7.5 years of high security colony. His defence believes the arguments of the prosecution unpersuasive.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that Sergey Tulinov was detained in Moscow in July 2009 at taking a 3-million bribe. The investigation believes that he was bribed for granting a large land plot to a commercial company.

Earlier, the board of jurymen had found Tulinov guilty under a minimum majority of votes; at the same time, the jurymen unanimously voted for indulging him. The court appointed a close-to-minimum punishment, with no fine and no two-year ban for Tulinov to further take posts in state and local government bodies, the Russian Agency of Legal and Judicial Information (RAPSI) reports.

At the trial, Tulinov's advocate had stated that he possessed data of the physical-technical examination, according to which the pack with money and the banknotes had been marked with a special chemical seen only in ultra-violet light.

According to the lawyer, his materials state that at Tulinov's detention his hands were examined, but no traces of the chemical were found on them; therefore, the advocate stated the innocence of his client.
