Georgia holds action against Mikhail Gorbachev's arrival

On September 5, a protest action was held in Tbilisi on the eve of the arrival of the ex-head of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev in Georgia. The protesters demanded to arrest him right after arrival.

The action organizers are the Committee on De-Occupation of the National Movement and the Popular Front. Nodar Natadze, a well-known Georgian politician, said that Gorbachev is responsible for murders of peaceful people in Tbilisi during the demonstration on April 9, 1989.

"Georgian authorities may arrest Gorbachev, suspected of a bloody crime, as soon as he crosses the Georgian border. If Gorbachev is going to come to Georgia, it means that the authorities of our country are Russian agents," the "Georgia-Online" quotes Nodar Natadze as saying.

Meanwhile, several days ago Gorbachev's press service said that the USSR ex-president was not planning to visit Georgia in the near future, the "Echo Moskvy" Radio reports.
