Woman from Penza asks Dagestan human rights activists for help

Irina Rezanova, a resident of Penza and mother of Andrei Rezanov, arrested soldier of the Botlikh Mountain-Rifle Brigade, suspected of involvement in murdering Adilgerei Magomedtagirov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan on June 5, 2009, has addressed her letter to the Dagestan regional public organization "Mothers of Dagestan for Human Rights" and asked for help.

Svetlana Isaeva, head of this organization, has reported that they plan a rally on September 21 in Makhachkala, where the issue of Andrei Rezanov will be raised among other problems. "His mother believes that her son was detained illegally; under torture Andrei was forced to confess of a crime he never committed. We support Irina Rezanova: something should be done to stop the lawlessness of power agents, who quite often kidnap, torture and execute innocent people," Ms Isaeva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The letter notes that on June 3 Andrei Rezanov came, together with his pregnant wife, by train to the city of Saratov. Irina Rezanova notes that inspectors' suspicions are based on evidences of a witness, who allegedly saw her son on June 3 in Makhachkala.

Irina Rezanova is indignant with the way the inquiry proceeds: "The case is completely forged and falsified. Nobody from top managers of the state and public organizations (what do we need them for otherwise?) ever answered my letters and complaints - just bureaucratic formal replies, which are sent to the Investigatory Committee in Makhachkala, to senior inspector Gribenyukov, who feels his impunity, commands people's fates, and who forced my son under torture to confess of the crime he never committed."
