Hurricane damages hundreds of dwelling houses in Kabardino-Balkaria

As a result of the hurricane that fell last night on the republic, hundreds of houses and electric networks were damaged in the Prokhladny District of Kabardino-Balkaria. As reported by the local department of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies, over 10,000 residents remained without electricity, and two persons were taken to hospital with traumas.

The speed of the storm wind was up to 36 meters per second; it was accompanied by downpours.

"Only in the city of Prokhladny about 200 dwelling houses seriously suffered, while three schools, two kindergartens and 400 houses were less damaged. Because of the damage of the electricity substation, a district with about 10,000 of population remained without electric power, two residents were hospitalized with traumas," said Kantemir Davydov, head of the press service of the Chief Department of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies for Kabardino-Balkaria.

According to his story, the hurricane had also struck the villages of Priblizhnaya, Novo-Poltavskaya and the farm yard of Novopokrovskiy, where many houses have their roofs and windows heavily damaged; delivery of electric power and water was interrupted, the ITAR-TASS reports.
