Krasnodar Territory: inquiry into death of children from "Azov" camp is over

The inquiry has been completed under the case opened against the teachers accused of gross negligence, as a result of which on July 7 six children from camp "Azov" drowned in the Yeysk sand bar of the Azov Sea. This was reported today in Krasnodar by Vitaly Tkachov, head of the Territorial Investigatory Department of the ICPO (Investigatory Committee under the Russian Prosecutor's Office).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the area of the Yeysk sand bar of the Azov Sea on July 7 six Moscow children from the children's health-improving camp "Azov" drowned. The teacher who rushed to save them also perished. According to the investigation, the three adults, who were looking after the children, were drunk at the moment of the tragedy. Besides, the island, where the children were taken to bathe, was not intended for this purpose; however, there were no warning signs installed there.

Mr Tkachov said that the inquiry was over in relation to Irina Ryabova, deputy principal for upbringing, and Alexei Bagriantsev, teacher of geography and economy, both from Moscow school No. 1065. Besides, a check is conducted "in relation to the officials of the Ministry for Emergencies for the city of Yeysk."

"Now we are acquainting the victims with the materials of the criminal case. Tomorrow (on September 3) the defendants will start doing the same," said Tkachov.

The RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to one of inspectors that on Monday, September 6, the case will be sent to the public prosecutor for approval of the indictment.
