Influential Georgian businessman arrested in Tbilisi

Anzor Kokoladze, the founder of the largest Georgian network of electric equipment shops "Elite Еlectronix", was detained on suspicion of appropriation of a huge sum of money through a fraud.

Now, the case is under preliminary investigation under Article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia - swindle. In case of found guilty Kokoladze may be imprisoned for 6-9 years.

The Tbilisi City Court has already ruled in favour of a two-month preliminary custody for the businessman, the "News-Georgia" reports with reference to the press service of the court.

According to the statement of the Investigatory Department of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, Kokoladze is suspected that in 2008-2009 he escaped his obligations to creditors and the state by means of illegal transactions, the Russian Agency of Legal and Judicial Information (known as "RAPSI") reports.
