"Strategy-31" rallies held in South of Russia

Actions in support of the All-Russian campaign "Strategy-31" took place in eight cities of the South of Russia, where participants demand from the authorities to respect Article 31 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which guarantees the citizens' right to peaceful assemblies. In each city the rallies were 10-50 persons strong.

Actions within the "Strategy-31" campaign were held in 42 regions of Russia, including the cities of the South of Russia: Astrakhan, Krasnodar, Sochi, Elista, Volgograd, Taganrog, Rostov-on-Don, Novocherkassk, as reported by the press service of the movement "Strategy-31".

In many regions actions were not coordinated with the authorities. Mainly, the militia did not detain the participants in Rostov-on-Don and Novocherkassk some of them had been preventively detained.

    Igor Nagavkin, a human rights defender, whom the Volgograd Regional Court decided to release from custody, has left the territory of the SIZO (pre-trial prison) and went home to the town of Kalach-on-Don, stating that he would seek full rehabilitation.
