Moscow: man hijacks aircraft to tell Putin about situation in Chechnya

Today in Moscow, at about 3:45 p.m., an aircraft that arrived to Domodedovo Airport from the city of Mineralnye Vody was hijacked. Now, the passengers are released and hijacker detained: no victims.

As reported by the press service of Department for Legal Order on Transport of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), after landing "one of the passengers addressed the plane commander and said that he possessed valuable information for law enforcement bodies."

The hijacker had no firearms, and did not threaten with violence. He demanded for a meeting with power agents, mass media and Vladimir Putin, to whom he wanted to tell about the situation in Chechnya, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

In view of these circumstances, it was decided to drive the aircraft with passengers to a reserve parking place.

After a while one of the passengers felt bad, and the hijacker allowed physicians to climb aboard; operative agents did it under the guise of doctors and neutralized the hijacker, the ITAR-TASS reports.

The detainee after the incident in the Domodedovo Airport was identified as a certain Patiev, a native of Ingushetia and a citizen of Kazakhstan, who now lives in Almaty.
