Children football team from Dagestan is prize-winner of international tournament in Austria

The children football team "Locomotive-NCRW" (North-Caucasian Railways) from the capital of Dagestan has won the third place in the prestigious international tournament, which was held in the Austrian city of Wels this July.

It was the 25th annual tournament, which attracted about 200 teams from more than 30 countries.

The team "Locomotive-NCRW" from Makhachkala included children born in 1999 and was coached by Rustam Izbulatov; they defeated the teams of Greeks 4:1, Italians 6:1 and Taiwanese 2:1 and took the first place in its subgroup.

In the semi-final the Dagestan team lost to the hosts of the tournament - the team of Austria 0:1, and in the bronze match they defeated their Taiwanese peers.

"It's a pity that in our country so little attention is given to children's sports. If we could have more tournaments of this sort in Dagestan, children could pursue healthy lifestyle instead of wandering in the streets," Yusup Khachilaev, on of the players, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
