Georgia: Tsotne Gamsakhurdia is ready to plead guilty

Tsotne, son of the first president of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia, who is serving his term on the charge of a deliberate murder attempt, is ready to admit the charges live on TV. This was stated on July 12 by his advocate Keti Bekauri.

"He demands 15 minutes on TV and states that he is ready to admit all the charges. He said point-blank that he was ready to admit all the accusations," said Ms Bekauri and noted that he did not explain his decision. According to her story, Gamsakhurdia was "absolutely inadequate and aggressive, which give grounds to assume that he is given some psychotropic or exciting preparations together with food."

At the same time, she did not exclude that this condition also may be caused by Tsotne's regular hunger strike.

The advocate also said that although the European Court of Human Rights had obliged the government of Georgia to place Gamsakhurdia to a city clinic for "adequate rehabilitation," he is still kept in the prison hospital, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
