In Moscow, militiaman, who beat to death a native of Abkhazia, sentenced to 15 years

The Kuzminki Court of Moscow found militiaman Anver Ibragimov guilty of murdering, while in condition of alcoholic intoxication, a native of Abkhazia and sentenced him to 15 years of imprisonment.

In the course of the judicial proceedings today, the public prosecutor asked to sentence Ibragimov to 16.5 years of prison.

The militiaman will serve his term in a high security colony and pay one million roubles to the casualty's mother, the ITAR-TASS reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the indictment was presented to militia sergeant Anver Ibragimov suspected of beating to death Eduard Gurtskaya on November 25, 2009. On the following day, the Kuzminki Court of Moscow sanctioned his arrest. On March 18 this in the course of a court session the ex-militiaman rejected his previous evidences, where he admitted his guilt. On April 9, Ibragimov again refused to evidence and spent the whole session in a mask; despite all his assurances that his conscience is clear, he refused to take the mask off.
