Militia officer detained in Chechnya with plenty of firearms in his car

As reported by law enforcement bodies of the republic, on May 19 in the Gudermes District of the Chechen Republic, power agents detained an officer of the patrol-post service who transported a large batch of weapons and ammunition in his car. A check was initiated on the fact.

"Yesterday in Gerzel village, Gudermes District, in the course of operative actions, law enforcers detained a militia lieutenant, commander of a platoon of the patrol-post militia service (known as PPSM) of the Republic's MIA. When his car was examined, two Kalashnikovs, two grenade launchers with 16 shots and more than 300 firearm cartridges were detected," said the source.

"The detained officer could not explain the origin of the arsenal found in his car. It is not excluded that the weapons and ammunition were intended for IAF (illegal armed formations, - note of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent) members. A check has been initiated on the fact," the source has concluded.
