Resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, wounded at special operation, claims compensation of damage

Mikhail Sova, 47, a resident of Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, who happened to be on March 7 in the area, where a special operation aimed to neutralize suspected militant Valery Etezov was conducted, was wounded by an occasional bullet. Now, he went to the Nalchik City Court.

The victim told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that in the evening of that day he was walking with his wife and daughter along Chernyshevskogo Street. Suddenly, cries and shots burst out of the nearby cafe.

Almost at once a bullet struck Mikhail and he fell down. When the special operation was over, an ambulance was called and brought Mikhail to the Republic's Clinical Hospital. The X-ray picture made there showed a bullet in his stomach. Doctors decided not to touch it and wait till it stops moving within his abdominal cavity. "Thus, I lived for a month with a bullet in my stomach," said Mikhail.

On April 6, Mikhail was operated on at the hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Kabardino-Balkaria. By that time the bullet was one centimetre away from his heart. The extracted bullet was taken away by law enforcers. The ballistic examination established that it was shot from the pistol of the liquidated militant.

Having appraised his moral and material damage as 700,000 roubles, the victim wants to litigate for compensation.
