Russian President slates Vasily Golubev to Governor of Rostov Region

Today, President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev has brought Vasily Golubev, his nominee to the post of local Governor, for consideration of the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov Region.

Now, Mr Golubev is the head of the Lenin Municipal District of the Moscow Region, as reported by the "Interfax" Agency with reference to the press service of the Kremlin.

Earlier, Boris Gryzlov, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party, said that his Party would move offers to Dmitri Medvedev on possible candidates for the Governor of the Rostov Region. Apart from Vasily Golubev, the list contains Sergey Nazarov, First Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region, and Mikhail Chernyshov, Mayor of Rostov-on-Don.

The incumbent Governor of the Rostov Region Vladimir Chub addressed the "Edinaya Rossiya" Party with a request not to nominate him to the President. His argument was that he has already worked four terms as Governor.
