Today, the South-Ossetian authorities, through intermediary of the European Council commissioner for human rights Thomas Hammarberg, have set free the three residents of Kaspsky area, Georgia.

The residents of Kaspsky area (Georgia) Biganashvili Levan Otarovich (born in 1986), Didebashvili Alekho Amiranovich (born in 1985), Tvauri Merab Hayozovich (born in 1974) were detained on 4 September 2009 for the illegal border crossing and illegal cutting in Leningorsky area of South Ossetia.

Today, 13 May, the trial over the detainees took place and condemned the Georgian citizens for 'illegal border crossing', a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent informs.

In consideration of the served term required for investigation, the citizens of Georgia were released in the courtroom.

Head of research and information department of the Georgian MIA Shota Utiashvili confirmed this information and said that the three released residents of Kaspsky area had been passed to the EU reps near the village of Ergneti, IA News-Georgia reports.

It must be noted that the citizens of Georgia were released thanks to Thomas Hammarberg, who, after visiting Tskhinvali on 2 May, brought the three Kaspsky residents that had been earlier detained and informed journalists of the South-Ossetian authorities' promise to release another three persons.
