Schoolchildren of different nationalities to exchange families for a while in Kabardino-Balkaria

On April 19, Kabardino-Balkaria starts an all-republic youth project "Kunachestvo" (from the Turkic word meaning "guest", - note of translator). Its participants - schoolchildren of different nationalities from 11 villages and cities - will exchange families for a while and become "kunaks".

Teenagers of 11-16 of different nationalities from 34 families will move to other families and live there for five days as their own sons or daughters, thus becoming "kunaks". The aim of the action, as the portal "Kabardino-Balkaria. World and We" writes, is to live in the receiving family of another nationality, to get acquainted with the traditions and life, and take part in everyday family life, including various youth actions.

Last year, four families from villages Argudan, Lesken District, and Kendelen, Elborus District, took part in the "Kunachestvo" project. The teenagers-"kunaks" and reception families made friends; they keep warm memoirs and strengthen their new contacts by joint actions, the IA "Northern Caucasus" reports.

The organizers are sure that soon the "Kunachestvo" will become not only massive but also spontaneous, "when the desire to make friends will appear in people of different nationalities by itself, not within some particular social project," runs the official website of the President of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.
