Pakhomov: red roofs will give harmonic image to Sochi

The authorities of Sochi plan to bring the city-resort to the uniform architectural style by having repainted red all the roofs in the city and its vicinities.

"We're bringing the city to the uniform architectural image; therefore, roofs and fences should look identical," Anatoly Pakhomov, Mayor of the city-resort, said on April 19.

In his opinion, roofs and fences should be identical not only in the city but also in surrounding villages. "All the roofs should be red, not dark blue," Mr Mayor has emphasized. However, he did not specify what the colour of the fences should be, the "Interfax-South" notes.

"This is Sochi - the Olympic capital, the global-value resort; therefore, the requirements are tough," the "Echo Moskvy" Radio explained Mr Pakhomov's decision.
