Scientists of Southern Caucasus have no general view on regional history

Despite the attempts of the scientists of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia to generate some common scientific view on the history of the countries of Southern Caucasus, the idea remains non-realized yet. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent heard this opinion in the interview given by Aidyn Aslanov, deputy chair of the Society of Historians of Azerbaijan.

The joint efforts of scientists from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia resulted in a book "Sketches on History of Countries of Southern Caucasus." The monograph contains data on the history of each of the three countries from the most ancient times till 1921. Mr Aslanov is the Azerbaijani co-author of the book. In future, they plan to write similar books covering the periods of 1921-1991, and from 1991 till today.

In January 2010, Baku hosted presentation of the advance copy of the book. The authors of the history of Armenia and Georgia are historians Armen Hachikyan and Paata Ramishvili.

According to Aidyn Aslanov, the Council of Europe was the initiator of writing a book on the general history of Southern Caucasus. The book covers the period from the most ancient times to Sovietization of the countries of the region, which was over in 1921.
