Local resident liquidated in Kabardino-Balkaria was militants' leader, power agents assert

The man who was assassinated in Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, on Wednesday, March 31, was, according to power agencies, the financier of local militants, who replaced the earlier liquidated Anzor Astemirov, leader of the Kabardino-Balkarian and Karachai underground.

As reported by the United Information Centre of law enforcement bodies of Kabardino-Balkaria, Astemirov earlier appointed the murdered militant to be his deputy, naib, responsible for financing the armed underground.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, on March 31 at about 4:00 p.m. in the yard of No. 14 in the Kirova Street in Nalchik, when power agents were checking documents, they stopped a man, born in 1970, about whom law enforcement bodies had information about his involvement in an IAF (illegal armed formation).

The detainee managed to make a shot from his TT pistol and was shot dead by response fire.
