Landslip threat forces MfE to evacuate residents of Buinaksk suburb
At night on Saturday, March 13, the Dagestan city of Buinaksk suffered from a powerful landslip. Rescuers evacuated 82 persons, including 26 children, the local Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) reports.
"The landslide process continues in Buinaksk; three houses are already completely destroyed, five are damaged and six more are under threat. We are evacuating people: 82 persons are already removed from the hazardous area," the Ministry has reported.
According to the MfE's spokesman, the speed of the landslip makes 15 centimetres per hour, the "Gazeta.Ru" writes. The "Interfax-South" adds that there are no casualties and victims among the population.
Landslips in Dagestan are no rarity. Thus, houses in Kyakhulai village are being destroyed by a landslip. Resident of this village Zulfiya Alieva and her family are already homeless as a result of the calamity.
