Ingush SC commutes sentence for Magomed Evloev's murder
Today, the Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia has replaced colony-settlement by "restriction of freedom" to Ibragim Evloev, former head of security of the Interior Minister of Ingushetia, convicted for involuntary manslaughter of the former owner of the oppositional site "Ingushetia.Ru" Magomed Evloev.
The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that on December 11, 2009, the Karabulak Court found Ibragim Evloev guilty of involuntary manslaughter and convicted him to two years of imprisonment with serving the term in a colony-settlement. The prosecution then stated that they were completely satisfied with the decision of the judge, while the convict's family and the defence were not happy with the verdict and appealed against it at the Supreme Court of the republic. They believe that the crime was intentional.
The "Gazeta.Ru" reports that the convict and his relatives were not present at the SC's session.
The sentence commutation means in fact "release of Magomed Evloev's murderer," writes the portal "Ingushetia.Org" (former "Ingushetia.Ru").
On February 16, the Supreme Court of Ingushetia postponed the consideration of the cassation complaint lodged by Magomed Evloev's family.
