Prime Minister of Dagestan plans to attract investments and create free economic zones

Magomed Abdulaev, who was appointed today to the post of the chairman of the government of Dagestan, has defined the main priorities of economic development of the republic. Among the first-order tasks are development of industry, attraction of investments and creation of a free economic zone in Dagestan.

"Mr Abdulaev's little experience in executive power bodies may seem a minus for somebody," President of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov said when presenting Abdulaev. "But on the other hand, he is not damaged by bureaucracy and corruption manifestations."

As stated by Mr Magomedov, corruption and bureaucracy are of systemic character in Dagestan. "We'll eradicate these phenomena. I declare that I'll never get into the republic's pocket and never allow others to do it. Such actions, which dishonour the power, are inadmissible," the head of the republic has noted.

The new Prime Minister Magomed Abdulaev highlighted the main economic priorities in development of Dagestan. According to his story, it is necessary to retool the industry, introduce new production technologies and win the state defence order for placement at the republic's enterprises.

According to Mr Abdulaev, foreign and domestic investments should reach the republic.

He supported the initiative of Alexander Khloponin, Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the NCFD, about opening of free economic zones in the region.

The new prime-minister suggested to postpone adoption of the "Strategy of Social and Economic Development of Dagestan till 2020", which has already passed hearings in the parliament of the republic. According to the prime-minister, the new economic course will demand to modify the Strategy.

Mr Abdulaev has stated that the new steps will allow the republic to decrease its donation dependence from the federal budget, bring sown the unemployment and improve the investment attractiveness of Dagestan.

Politicians and public figures of Dagestan treated differently Magomed Abdulaev's appointment to the post of the Premier. Some of them doubt that the new prime minister will be independent in decision-making, others, on the contrary, stick to the opinion that the couple of Abdulaev with the new president of the republic can efficiently address the problems that Dagestan is facing.
